South Africa Under Lockdown Governance
The discussion, which follows a research paper by Dr Ralph Mathekga of the same name, will assess:
– The legislative response by the government in South Africa in its response to the outbreak and spread of the Covid-19 pandemic
– The coordination framework and stakeholder engagement platforms, put into place by the government in its national response
- Whether the government can be said to have acted democratically during the state of emergency, particularly in the first few weeks of the lockdown in the country
Joining us will be Laurence Caromba, lecturer in International Relations at the University of Johannesburg, Ferial Haffajee, industry journalist and Dr Ralph Mathekga.
